The Authorization Specialist primary function is to monitor, track, and document client authorizations. The Authorization Specialist will network with clinical staff, area and regional leadership, insurance providers, intake, and billing departments. Therefore, communication skills are essential.

Bachelor's degree preferred3-5 years of clinical knowledge in a behavioral health or medical clinic settingExhibit high quality work.Use excellent judgment and Communicate clearly.Ability to multi-task; listening, typing, taking notes, and work with different operating systems at one time.Take the initiative to identify and resolve issuesWilling to learn and take on new tasksDemonstrate resourcefulness and cooperationExhibit BI's core values in all interactionsDuties & Responsibilities:

Manage a region/market of centers and is responsible for all duties pertaining to the clients in that marketManage submissions of assessment, initial, and re-authorization services. Ensuring proper follow up according to cadence, proper documentation in CRM and EHR, and communication with center and leadership.Develop positive working relationships with government and commercial payer case managers and clinical staff to promote an understanding of Prior Authorization requirements and processes.Complete and thoroughly document all client accounts with the approved or denied in both CRM and EHR and communicate with centers as need beResearch, follow-up, and resolve any open or pending Authorization Requests with third party payers in a timely manner.Communicate with payers for status updates on all outstanding and pending Authorization Requests.Track Authorization thresholds on all client accounts.Work with clinician's on re-authorization submissions prior to an authorization expiration date, in order to prevent any lapses in coverage and ensure billing is accurate, complete and timely.Work with intake on assessment and initial authorizations, flagging any concerns with paperwork and potential delaysAssist leadership in identifying, analyzing and escalating patterns of authorization denials and identifying corrective actions or training needs of clinical staff.Provide clinical staff and leadership with support and troubleshooting to ensure that documentation supports clean authorization submission.Performs other duties as assigned.
