Job Description

Dentsu Creative Public Relations is looking for an experienced Vice President of Media Relations to serve a range of clients across industries. In this role, you will lead a team of media relations specialists and provide counsel on proactive and reactive media engagement strategies on behalf of our clients.

You will develop a detailed knowledge of client brands (business, services, products, perceptions) alongside client leaders to offer creative solutions for their biggest challenges. Through an understanding of the media landscape and a broad network of relationships, you'll be tasked to deliver strategic storytelling recommendations that align with client goals.

You will report to the EVP, Public Relations.

What You'll Do

Lead a team of media relations practitioners who can put Dentsu Creative clients at the center of conversation

Leverage a deep bench of reporter relationships to help clients earn coverage while developing and nurturing relationships with national and local media across client verticals

Stay ahead of the media landscape, tuning into evolving ways of working, newsroom shifts and emerging platforms

Be a voracious consumer of media, constantly immersed in pop culture, trends, and news with an eye towards what's new and what's next

Develop media relations strategy and drive compelling storytelling for Dentsu Creative clients

Decipher and use audience insights and media intelligence to build effective strategies

Oversee the production of assets, including news releases, pitch notes, media advisories, case studies, etc.

Oversee coordination of press events

Partner with our analytics group to deliver agency thought leadership on moments affecting brands (cultural headwinds and tailwinds) and to develop coverage audit and analysis reporting

Be a senior media relations advisor to internal client leadership teams

Play an integral support role in service of organic growth and new business development

Qualifications:Qualifications

12+ years of experience leading a media relations team or working in brand/consumer publicity for a national / global public relations agency or equivalent experience working in a national newsroom/media environment

Experience placing national broadcast, print and online placements with consumer, business and lifestyle media, and strong relationships with top-tier journalists

Understanding of how the media ecosystem has and continues to evolve

Develop and edit publish-ready materials including communications strategy and tactical plans, press assets (releases, fact sheets, etc.) and brand assets (bylines and executive content)

Demonstrated use of AI tools and tactics to drive improved results across the media relations function

Experience interacting and working with multiple partners and collaborating with analytics, creative, strategy and brand teams

Demonstrated experience managing a team with the ability to inspire and develop talent

Additional Information

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $113,000-182,850. Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors including relevant experience, knowledge, skills and other factors permitted by law. Additionally, this position is eligible for discretionary incentive compensation. The company's incentive compensation plan is subject to change.
