We are seeking a dynamic

Authorization Specialist

to join our esteemed medical office staff in

Lynchburg, VA . As the Authorization Specialist, you will play a crucial role in completing authorizations and referrals for physical therapy services. You will be responsible for submitting authorizations within the time frame given by the insurance company and ensuring clear communication between the PT, PCC, and the patient. You will need to understand insurance and stay updated on the plans that require authorization, as they are ever-changing.

ResponsibilitiesComplete authorizations and referrals for services, including appointments and procedures.Review the patient's medical history and insurance coverage for approval.Contact referring physicians for additional information as needed.Input new patient information and update information in our system.Maintain patients' privacy both within the office and outside of work, following HIPAA guidelines.Assist with other clerical tasks as needed.Requirements

High school diploma or GED certificateAssociate degree (a plus)Some experience in medical billing or insurance authorization (strongly preferred)Knowledge of medical terminologyPossesses basic PC skills and knowledge, including but not limited to Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, Database software, and MS Office.About Lynchburg
