Overview

Under the general direction of the Library Director, staffs the Library Circulation Desk and provides assistance to Library patrons in person, over the phone and via e-mail. Handles circulation and Library reserve transactions; patron record creation and problems; assists with maintenance of the Reserve Collection. Processes interlibrary loan borrowing and lending requests. Receives and distributes incoming mail including items ordered and journal issues. Orders print library books and library supplies; enters acquisitions records for purchased and gift materials in the library system; changes locations of library materials in the Sierra Library System as requested; does book labelling and end processing. Ensures VR headsets and TV remote and mouse are kept charged; Assists with special projects including typing projects, displays, and general maintenance of the Library including maintaining library supplies; submitting work orders to Facilities and IT; making suggestions for improvement.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:Provides staff coverage for the library (M-Th 7:30 am - 4:30 pm and Fri 7:30 am - 2:30 pm with 1 hour lunch break; assists with daily opening of the library at 7:30 am each Monday through Friday morning (shift will change somewhat during winter break and for library summer hours).Staffs the Library Circulation DeskTakes and records library attendanceCommunicates re: library policies and procedures with library patrons and refers such questions and matters to one of the librarians as needed.Assists patrons with questions and problems including with printing and computer access in library, TV installation, VR headsets, referring reference questions, calls and e-mails to one of the TUC Librarians or other TUC offices as appropriateMaintains Sierra course records for Reserve Collection.Checks in, checks out, renews library materials including library reserve materials. Reshelves reserve materials. Keeps TV Room and VR equipment charged for check-out. Deals with patron record question and problems making referrals to the Access Services LibrarianReceives and processes interlibrary loan lending and borrowing requests on DOCLINE, CLIO, OCLC. Handles patron questions pertaining to ILL function and transactionsDistributes incoming US and campus mail and prepares outgoing library mail including insurance formsChecks in and shelves print journal issues, claims undelivered/missing print journal issues; maintains the print journal display shelves.Maintains library office supplies and submits orders for office supplies needed by library. Inputs and tracks requisitions for print library materials. Unpacks, verifies, receives ordered items; if order requires gets invoice approvals, and submits approved invoices to Accounting OfficeEnters acquisitions/order information in Sierra for purchased and/or gift materials. Updates order information in Sierra when purchased item received.Generates & affixes call number & location labels & plastic covers for newly cataloged materials or materials requiring relabeling. As requested, changes locations in Sierra for specific books and other items. May assist Technical Services Librarian with copy cataloging of print materials.Assists with Library special projects including preparing library materials for withdrawal; pulling and adding print materials to the reserve collection; inventory of library materials; preparing booklists; entering records into Touro Scholar; general typing/inputting tasks; checking for and reporting non-functioning links in library resource guidesAssists with the general maintenance and good functioning of the Library by assisting with the preparation and submittal of work orders to Facilities and IT; maintains safety, good appearance, and general upkeep of the library. Brings problems and concerns to the attention of the Library Director and/or librarians.

• In conjunction with interlibrary loan requests, is able to determine availability of specific articles in the TUC Library using A-Z Journals, PubMed Linkout, and Article Linker and provide to patrons

• Able to apply knowledgeably current policies, procedures and technologies pertaining to TUC Library circulation and reserve functions; acquisitions receiving, the Library catalog, and the Summon discovery system.

• Is reliable and dependable in carrying out job duties which are strongly linked to timeliness and consistency. After training, is able to work independently, asking questions as needed.

• Demonstrates a strong service-oriented approach to Library patrons

USD $55,565.12/Yr.

Minimum Salary

USD $44,452.10/Yr.
