Job Details

The Plumbing Designer (Designer) is responsible and accountable for the accurate and timelycompletion of assigned projects, ensuring that those projects are designed in accordance withindustry codes and standards, client specifications, and local codes, on time and within the Optimatime budget. On assigned projects, the Designer is also responsible for the preparation of final designand construction documents. The Designer works in conjunction with the Project Manager,Engineers, and the Construction Administration Specialist in the performance of work required to meetor exceed client and company standards and expectations, as well as communicating any identifieddeviations from standard in a timely manner, errors or omissions observed on the project, and/or othersituations that deviate from the approved plans. The Designer is also expected and encouraged toidentify opportunities for improvement within each project, including potential additional services andwork scope increases.Specific Responsibilities:There are six major phases in the completion of a project. The specific accountabilities andresponsibilities for this position are detailed below for each of those phases.Proposal PhaseProvide input on an as-requested basis

Schematic PhaseProvide input on design options and on code compliance reviewsProvide input to the Client to aid in their selection of the preferred design schemePrepares sketches needed for the projectPrepares draft and final reports when required

Design Development PhaseProvide input on the overall project internal scheduleDevelops a complete drawing listSets the project up in AutoCAD or coordinates with assigned BIM Coordinator for RevitCompletes design development project plansConduct design check for compliance with applicable codesCreates engineering calculations and drawingsPerforms DD (high level) design and Interdiscipline CoordinationSupport Project Manager in final Design Development review and approval

Construction Document PhaseComplete drawings and calculationsConduct Interdiscipline coordinationPerforms the review between disciplinesResolves any Agency review commentsResolves any owner comments

PLUMBING DESIGNERPOSITION DESCRIPTIONBidding PhaseIssues bid documentsAnswers any bidder’s RFIsAssists in the review of substitution requestsIssues revisions resulting from the pre-bid meetingIssues full set of construction drawings (first full conformed set).

Construction Administration PhaseMaintains a complete conformed set of drawingsConducts reviews of submittalsAssists in reviewing contractor RFIs and determining whether drawing revisions are

requiredIssues design drawing revisionsPrepares final as-built drawingsParticipates in the project postmortem review
