WVTM TV, the NBC affiliate in Birmingham, Alabama is looking for an IT Specialist to join our station. You will help oversee the IT operations at our station and work with a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment. The IT Specialist reports to the IT Manager and performs daily maintenance on computers, virtual systems, network infrastructure, printers and provides user support.
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee station IT operations under the direction of the Assistant Chief Engineer and Director of Engineering
- Support user needs across all departments, including News, Creative Services, Sales and Administration
- Maintain imaging machines, updating firmware and managing hardware inventory
- Assist the IT Manager with systems upgrades and new platform deployments
- Provide technical guidance to end-users and mobile device support
- Maintain LAN/IT infrastructure, installation and support of network hardware and software
- Occasional travel to news bureau, transmitter and translator locations
- Analyze and implement corporate data back-up, disaster recovery and security procedure
- Consult with end users and install desktop, laptop and workstation computers based on company direction
- Control and coordinate hardware and software inventory
- Design and integrate complex systems
- In-person attendance is required
Requirements:
- IT work experience and the desire to succeed
- Two years in LAN & WAN systems administration
- Experience in the television broadcast setting is preferred
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop and server operating systems
- Network and stand-alone printers and digital copiers
- Mobile device support & connectivity
- Enterprise and web-based applications
- VPN, Cisco equipment, TCP/IP and subnets, NAS, LAN Management
- Can work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with constant deadlines
- Demonstrate professional interpersonal and communication skills
- Higher education in technology, SBE certification or related military experience will be considered
- Related military experience will be considered
