Overview
Bloomberg's UX team is dedicated to delivering best-in-class experiences that empower all of our users to unlock the full potential of Bloomberg solutions. We’re a team of interaction designers, researchers, visual designers, prototypers, and technical writers that work closely with our Product and Engineering partners to continuously enhance and evolve our company’s pioneering, flagship solution – the Bloomberg Terminal. Through UX research and design, our team plays a critical role in helping to shape strategy and shepherd Bloomberg's design vision into reality, across desktop, web, mobile and other emerging platforms.
Role:
Bloomberg’s Mobile UX team is looking for an experienced Interaction Designer to help us discover our mobile users’ goals and needs, and design the mobile platform for our extensive Bloomberg Professional offerings. This role will tackle all aspects of the UX design process - from discovery (user research, workflow analysis, sketching, concept testing) to delivery (detailed design, prototyping, qualitative and quantitative testing, build support).

The Mobile UX team at Bloomberg is responsible for delivering a best-in-class mobile experience across all of our Bloomberg Anywhere offerings, from iOS and Android, to iPad and VisionOS. We do this by designing, building and managing the core UX framework for our suite of native mobile apps and our marquee applets offered within them.
To close the gap in what’s possible between the Bloomberg desktop and mobile experience, our Mobile UX team is also responsible for the growth and adoption of our internal mobile software development toolkit and framework (MobileSDK), leveraged by product design and development teams across the Bloomberg enterprise.
As a member of the Mobile UX team, you’ll closely partner with end users (internal and external), subject matter experts, product managers, engineers, and fellow UXers across desktop and mobile teams, taking ownership of the challenge and opportunity to enable the successful growth and adoption of our nascent MobileSDK.
Responsibilities:
discover and deliver innovative mobile experiences for the Bloomberg Professional mobile product (iOS, Android, iPadOS and VisionOS)

enhance, evolve and extend our core mobile UX patterns, craft UX guidelines, and create tools and templates to make it easy for non-mobile designers and developers to do the right thing, make good design choices for the mobile platform
leverage native mobile design expertise and understanding of mobile heuristics to craft UX solutions that serve our users’ needs and meet their expectations on our respective native mobile platforms (understanding of Google’s Material Design and Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines)
clearly and effectively communicate your design ideas and rationale
present and build confidence around design directions with UX artifacts, including user research findings, high-level conceptual design ideas, and detailed design specifications
Qualifications:
undergraduate or graduate degree in HCI, Interaction Design, Information Architecture, or other design-related fields
4+ years of UX design experience
experience with native mobile design and adaptive design, well-versed in platform standards for iOS and Android

Ideal Candidates Will:
have a team-first mindset and care deeply both about the impact of their work and contribution to team objectives

be adept at seeing the big picture, but also paying careful attention to the details
apply systems thinking to tackle complex challenges and break down open-ended problems
have experience successfully coordinating requirements gathering, helping to set strategic direction, defining success criteria, iteratively delivering solutions, and negotiating implementation details with stakeholders

Portfolio:
Our goal is to see if your problem-solving and interaction design skills are a good fit for Bloomberg.
We would like to see artifacts from across the project lifecycle - including UX research artifacts, user personas and profiles, low-fi sketches, workflows, journey maps, detailed wireframes, storyboards, etc.
Please include two (2) projects where you can give us a deep-dive into your design process. Ideally, at least one of the projects will show in-depth mobile wireframes (preferably in a presentation format), illustrating step-by-step user workflows for a native mobile application.
