Marketing & Communications Business Manager
Position Summary:
This position at The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research ("MJFF") oversees the strategic planning and management, budget management, resource allocation, and project management functions within the Marketing & Communications business unit. This function is pivotal in facilitating strategic initiatives that align with the organization's North Star Objective Key Results (OKRs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as well as the business unit's OKRs/KPIs. Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, this role manages a team and partners closely with various internal stakeholders within the business unit and across the organization to drive alignment and ensure resources are used effectively to achieve desired outcomes.
This position is hybrid-flex and expected to be at least part-time in MJFF's office in New York City.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning and Management:
Partners with the Office of the CEO to set, monitor, and review business unit OKRs and KPIsPartners with the Chief Marketing Officer and leaders within the business unit to develop business cases for new initiativesFacilitates the implementation of strategic initiatives to advance the Foundation's North Star OKRsIntegration and Coordination:
Ensures integration of strategic planning, budget management, resource allocation, and project management functionsFosters cross-functional collaboration to streamline processes and improve efficiency across business units, as well as within Marketing & CommunicationsProvides comprehensive reports and analyses on business unit performance, budget adherence, resource utilization, and project outcomesBudget Management:
Partners with the Chief Marketing Officer and Finance team to forecast financial needs and analyze budgetary requirements to support business unit activities and strategic initiativesCreates and manages annual budgets, ensuring alignment with business unit and organizational objectivesApproves and reviews significant expenditures, ensuring compliance with budgetary constraintsImplements cost-control measures and provides regular financial performance reports to the Chief Marketing OfficerResource Allocation:
Partners with the Chief Marketing Officer, People Operations, and Financial Planning & Analysis teams to assess and determine the resources required for achieving business unit objectivesAllocates resources effectively among various projects and operational areas based on priorityOptimizes resource utilization and manages conflicts to avoid bottlenecks and delaysEnsure efficient use of resources and adjust allocations as necessary to meet strategic goalsProject Management:
Partners with the Office of the CEO and other project management teams to develop enterprise standards for initiating, planning, optimizing, and monitoring cross-functional projectsPlans, initiates, and oversees projects, defining scopes, objectives, timelines, and deliverablesCoordinates project activities, ensuring tasks are completed on time, within scope, and on budgetIdentifies, manages, and mitigates risks and issues throughout the project lifecycleCommunicates regularly with stakeholders, including team members, partners, and senior managementEvaluates project performance, gathers feedback, and implements improvements for future projectsPeople Management:
Responsible for developing long-term plans and optimizing the function and the talent required to execute those strategiesLeads and motivates teams by demonstrating and coaching core values, setting clear goals and performance expectations, and providing ongoing feedback and talent developmentQualifications and Skills:
Progressive experience in business management, strategic planning, budget management, and project managementProgressive experience leading and motivating teamsStrong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and make data-driven decisionsExcellent organizational and leadership skills with experience in leading and influencing cross-functional teamsExceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearlyProficiency in project management software and financial management toolsFamiliarity with Marketing & Communications organizations, processes, systems, and terminologyStrong service-orientationSalary and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $200,000 - $230,000. In addition to salary, The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research (MJFF) offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:
