1Position Summary:Incumbent is responsible for obtaining all necessary authorizations in accordance with established guidelines.
Verifies eligibility, obtains benefit information, and generates letters for authorizations.
Responds to Member Services and Call Center inquiries and resolves any identified authorization issues which arise.

$30.65Required Qualifications:Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health SystemDemonstrated experience using MS OfficeAbility to work weekends, holidays, and eveningsPrevious experience with computer registration and registration scheduling systemAbility to interpret and understand various medical insurance plans and make accurate determinations regarding coverageGeneral knowledge of ICD9 and CPT codesMust be able to travel to off site physician practicesAbility to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workloadMust demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the jobExcellent written and verbal communication skills in EnglishMust demonstrate general understanding of medical terminologyMinimum one (1) year recent experience (within past two (2) years) registering patients in a hospital or clinic, working as a Medical Assistant, or working in medical billingMust possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned dutiesPreferred Qualifications:Demonstrated experience with authorization process and surgical schedulingFamiliarity of Joint Commission standardsExperience with EpicBilingual skill in Spanish or Vietnamese or ChineseKnowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and formsConditions of Employment:The University of California, Irvine (UCI) seeks to provide a safe and healthy environment for the entire UCI community.
