Job Description Required Education • Four-year degree in Human Factors, Usability, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related field.
Required Skills & Experience • 8–10 years of experience in UX/UI design. • 5+ years designing eCommerce solutions (Desktop, Tablet, Mobile). • Strong portfolio demonstrating complex digital workflows. • 3+ years of Figma experience (primary design tool). • Experience with user research, personas, journey maps, and usability testing. • Ability to work with cross-functional teams (BAs, Product Owners, Developers). • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Nice-to-Have (Preferred): • B2B eCommerce experience (cart, checkout, post-purchase flows). • 1+ year of Google Analytics (for data-driven design decisions). • Experience working with design systems.
Job Responsibilities o Create user interface specifications based on business requirements, user needs, and technical constraints. o Develop concepts, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs in Figma. o Ensure designs align with Caterpillar’s Design Guidelines (DEG) and CX roadmap. o Conduct discovery research (voice of customer, analytics, usability testing). o Develop personas, journey maps, and storyboards to guide design decisions. o Work with business stakeholders, developers, and vendors to implement designs. o Participate in design reviews, gather feedback, and iterate on solutions. o Support design audits to ensure compliance with UX best practices. o Promote user-centered design principles across teams. o Stay updated on industry trends and emerging UX methodologies.
Additional Notes • Onsite Requirement: 5 days/week in office (Chicago or Broomfield). • Interview Process: 2 rounds (screening + team interview via Teams).
Disqualifiers (Red Flags): • No eCommerce design experience. • Job-hopping (short tenures at previous roles). • Non-local candidates (must be in Chicago, IL, or Broomfield, CO).
