Salary Range: $56,920 to $80,000
The University of St. Thomas has provided a salary range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The specific salary offered will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.
JOB SUMMARY
The full-time Associate Director of Programming (Program Manager II) role is a key leadership position at ThreeSixty Journalism, a multimedia journalism career pathways program serving a diverse cross-section of Minnesota youth.
This leader will lead, manage, and oversee all aspects of our programming. They will design and implement all curriculum, producing and leading the classroom experience and ensuring the program meets its educational and organizational goals. An experienced journalist and proven educator, they will be a passionate advocate for youth journalism, guiding students through their learning journey. They will ensure student journalism meets professional standards and is published and will take a human-centered and results-oriented approach to ensuring students achieve meaningful careers in media.
This leader MUST be present and lead all of ThreeSixty’s classroom programming, which requires a flexible schedule. Programming takes place primarily on (approximately 12) Saturdays during the school year, evenings 1-2+ times per month, and over summer journalism camps primarily in June, July and early August. The remainder of the team’s work takes place in ThreeSixty’s offices on the St. Thomas campus in St. Paul. The position may require annual travel to support student learning at national conferences.
About ThreeSixty Journalism: ThreeSixty Journalism is an award-winning multimedia storytelling program for Minnesota youth. Grounded in journalism and focused on contributing to more accurate narratives and representative newsrooms, ThreeSixty offers technical, ethical and entrepreneurial training for fulfilling careers in storytelling and civic leadership. The program has been housed at the University of St. Thomas since 2001.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Education, Communications, or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience in journalism, education, or nonprofit program management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
- Strong knowledge of journalism practices, media ethics, and current trends in digital and multimedia storytelling
- Experience working with high school students, ideally in an educational or mentorship setting
- Excellent cross-cultural communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students, staff, and external stakeholders
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in curriculum development, program evaluation, and educational best practices
- Passion for youth empowerment, diversity, equity, and inclusion in media
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with fundraising and grant writing
