Job Summary:
The qualified candidate will be well-rounded and experienced in commercial Audio/Visual systems. This individual should have strong industry knowledge of best practices and installation standards consistent with InfoComm and manufacturer specifications. Proficiency in reading and interpreting AV Signal one-line drawings is required, as is the ability to understand system functions and determine cable pull schedules from this information. The candidate must maintain a professional appearance and be capable of interfacing with clients. Knowledge of and experience in commercial construction standards are strongly preferred. The candidate must pass company qualifications to drive a company vehicle.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Install Commercial Audio Visual systems, including AV cable pulling, rack building/pre-wiring, and hanging projector screens.
- Build structures to hang AV equipment following industry safety standards.
- Install speakers, flat panel displays, cameras, ceiling and tabletop microphones.
- Solder AV connectors and terminate shielded category cables.
- Conduct expert-level troubleshooting of AV systems.
- Perform structured cabling, including pulling, terminating, and testing all related cables.
- Work with projectors, video conferencing systems, screen displays, and computer controls.
- Conduct rack build-outs and ensure craftsmanship quality.
- Provide feedback for process improvements in installations.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, stoop, and bend for extended periods.
- Self-motivated, positive, professional, and able to promote company culture and mission.
- Act as a liaison with customer representatives.
- Proven problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Ability to work at heights, off ladders, in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds, and move up to 75 pounds.
- Visual and auditory acuity to distinguish colors, read small print, and recognize signals.
- Willingness to travel within the territory as needed.
- Effective interaction with employees, customers, and colleagues.
Education, Certification, License, and Skills:
- High school diploma or GED; formal education in electronics or related field preferred.
- Experience with audiovisual or electro-mechanical installations and field servicing.
- Crestron programming experience required.
- Experience with video conferencing platforms such as Polycom, Tandberg, Cisco, or LifeSize preferred.
- Experience in residential AV, structured wiring, and smart home designs is advantageous.
- Ability to read schematic diagrams and drawings.
Manufacturers and Technology Platforms:
- Crestron Digital Media, Digital Video, Biamp, Polycom, AMX, ClearOne.
Career Path:
Lead AV Technician, with a salary range of USD $28.00 to $36.00 per hour.
Experience Requirements:
2-4 years of experience.
