Observer is seeking a regular freelance reporter to cover major social media and streaming companies. The ideal candidate is fascinated by the latest developments and the executives, entrepreneurs, and investors behind them.

This role is suitable for an early- to mid-career business journalist aiming to develop expertise in the media industry. Candidates should have a strong curiosity, an extensive network of media industry sources, and a good understanding of business, corporate finance, and the economy.

The core focus will be on how innovative minds in these industries generate ideas and execute them. We seek a reporter who can see the big picture, pay attention to details, and be entrepreneurial in story pitching.

We’re Looking For a Reporter With

• At least two years of experience in business journalism with a record of writing for reputable outlets.
• Ability to produce both breaking news and long-form enterprise stories.
• Enthusiasm for regularly finding and pitching story ideas.
• High journalistic standards, attention to detail, and a skeptical approach to fact-checking.
• Ability to attend and cover industry events.
• Comfort with data and experience creating charts.
