Our client, Virginia's largest institution of higher education, is seeking a full-time Audio Visual Technician for a 1+ year engagement. The technician will be responsible for AV system design, installation, and troubleshooting, with experience in programming and configuring AV systems, especially Extron products.
The position is primarily day shift; however, organizational requirements may demand work on evenings, nights, and weekends.
Responsibilities
- Use ladders and perform lifting and bending associated with AV system installation and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of networking protocols (e.g., IP, TCP/IP) and AV system integration.
- Familiarity with audio, video, and control system components, including amplifiers, speakers, projectors, switches, control processors, signal processors, and matrix switchers. Experience with Extron equipment is preferred.
- Interpret and implement technical documentation, including schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Work independently or as part of a team on multiple projects.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, including troubleshooting performance issues with presentation systems and electronics.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with clients, engineers, and technicians.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in AV system integration, focusing on Extron products.
- Ability to lift 35-50 lbs.
- Certification in Extron products or other relevant AV certifications.
- Experience in higher education environments with classroom AV, lecture hall, or conference room systems.
- Exposure to manufacturers like Crestron, AMX, Lightware, Shure, Epson, Panasonic, Sony, LG, Samsung, etc.
- Understanding of industry standards and best practices for AV installations in educational settings.
- Familiarity with project management software and effective time management.
- Knowledge of ADA compliance and accessibility standards for AV systems in higher education.
