Description
The Audio Reading Service's target audience is listeners of all ages who have visual, physical, learning, or language challenges to reading traditional print. Articles are read and recorded in our studios.
We broadcast the recorded readings of news and information from over 80 publications!
HealthyLife provides useful, down-to-earth information on healthy living with sources such as Women’s Health, Men’s Health, and Personal Best magazines. This program is read from hardcopy and digital sources, so volunteers must be comfortable using a touchscreen tablet. We can work with your schedule for a 1.5-hour time slot and day to read weekly, or record two episodes every other week.
We enhance the lives of our listeners!
"One of the best features of your service for my mom is the human voice. She is 94, blind, and lives alone… your readers are her companions."
"My mom listens to The Weekend program and often attends events she hears about that are going on in the Fort Wayne area."
"The Audio Reading Service is my contact with the outside world, and I am very grateful to you!"
"Your Service is a wonderful thing. It makes such a difference in my husband's quality of life. He read The Atlantic for 50 years and now can hear the podcast. Please thank everyone who makes this possible."
If your skills and passions match our needs, we’d love to have you join our audio reading team of ACPL volunteers! An interview and audition are required.
Volunteers should be between the ages of 18 and 99.
