JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Graphic Designer is responsible for designing and producing visual materials including, but not limited to catalogs, course schedules, brochures, handbooks, newsletters, advertisements and other print, presentation and web-based materials utilized by the Colleges and System administration.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Research and obtain photographs, artwork and illustrations to be used in HCCS collateral, presentations and web-based materials.
Advise faculty and staff on creative approaches and options.
Review print product throughout the production process to ensure that appropriate level of quality is maintained.
Use creative skills to formulate concepts and prepare illustrations and design layouts.
Maintain hardware and software licensing information for Graphics Department.
Ensure necessary upgrades are available and operational for Graphics Department staff and ensure the completion of products.
Design and produce electronic files for use in multimedia presentations and publications.
Counsel external audiences, faculty, staff, and other users on appropriate HCCS logo formats and usage.
Perform other duties, tasks and assignments as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
- Associate’s degree in Commercial Art or a related field required
- 5 years experience required
- Experience working in an institution of higher education, preferably in a community college and with various platforms preferred
- A sample of a professional portfolio required at time of interview
Licensing & Certification
- Valid Texas Driver License

Working Conditions
General Office. Must be able to perform all job requirements with or without reasonable accommodations; remain in a stationary position during shift; move items weighing up to 25 pounds; position self to operate job equipment; apply established protocols in a timely manner. Must access, input and retrieve information from technology devices; communicate with others to accomplish job requirements. May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.
