Role Description
The IS Business Analyst Principal serves as a technical authority in one or more specialties, providing leadership and overseeing major projects throughout the systems development life cycle, including analysis, design, implementation, and post-implementation review. This role may supervise other technology staff such as IS Business Analysts, IS Engineers, Cable Splicers, etc.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advice and recommendations to meet user needs; coordinate activities across departments for system projects.
- Manage complex systems; lead multiple projects; develop new systems and enhancements; analyze procedures; develop migration plans; train users.
- Review plans for software, hardware, and telecom services; prepare specifications; oversee RFP processes.
- Manage contractors and vendors; facilitate contracts; resolve issues.
- Design and manage the growth of computer and telecom systems; develop and implement new systems based on departmental needs.
- Evaluate existing systems for cost efficiency; conduct feasibility studies; gather user requirements.
- Identify opportunities for automation; prepare proposals for new or improved systems.
- Ensure proper planning, installation, and testing of systems; oversee maintenance activities.
- Coordinate multi-vendor support for network troubleshooting.
- Supervise and review work of subordinate staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: Associate degree in business administration, public administration, information systems, economics, finance, computer science, or related field, or equivalent credits/experience.
Experience: 5 years in the information systems field, including analysis, business process design, development, or project management.
Substitution: Additional experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis (up to 2 years).
Additional Requirements: Ability to lift 35 lbs., bend, stoop, or crawl for hardware installation and repair.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Business Analysis, Project Management, Data Analysis, and Software Lifecycle.
