About the Role
Are you an experienced technical writer with a passion for delivering high-quality product documentation and content experiences for customers? Do you enjoy working with writers and content designers to create innovative content experiences and in-app guidance to assist product users? Do you excel at translating complex technical concepts into clear, accessible documentation for developers and technical audiences? If so, our Staff Technical Writer role is an excellent fit for you.
At Ridgeline, we are committed to providing top-tier product documentation and technical content to help users progress from new users to product mastery. As a technical writer, you will ensure our content is accurate, engaging, and effective. You will collaborate with writers, product, and engineering teams to understand updates and features, creating clear and concise content to maximize customer understanding and product utilization.
You will report to the Director of Technical Documentation and Content Experience and work closely with the product documentation team.
What You Will Do
- Create product documentation including user guides, API references, UI text, error messages, and in-app guidance, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency across the platform.
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to document new features and improve existing documentation.
- Apply your expertise in structured authoring, topic-based writing, DITA, and other industry standards to enhance content experiences.
- Leverage your knowledge of JSON, XML, and data formats to improve developer and API documentation.
- Work with team members on style guidelines and help create compelling, standards-compliant content.
- Develop and maintain documentation standards and processes.
- Partner with the Director to identify and implement best practices in product documentation and content management systems.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- 8+ years of experience in technical writing, especially in software product documentation and content design.
- Excellent writing and editing skills, capable of producing clear, concise, and engaging content for end-users and UI text.
- Experience with topic-based authoring, DITA, and XML-based systems.
- Familiarity with documentation tools like GSuite, Git/GitHub, Confluence, Zendesk, and content management systems.
- Strong understanding of CCMSs and XML workflows, with experience in content migration.
- Knowledge of AI systems and integrating AI into content workflows is a plus.
- Understanding of accessibility and localization standards.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects effectively.
Nice to Have
- Experience in Fintech or with startups.
- Basic coding knowledge in Python or Kotlin.
- Experience with API documentation tools like Swagger, Postman, or Insomnia.
- Familiarity with Agile and Continuous Delivery practices.
- Experience training internal teams and customers.
- Knowledge of front-end languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
- API testing and interaction skills.

Compensation and Benefits
