We are seeking a part-time Library Materials Processing (Technical Services) Assistant.

The Library Materials Processing Assistant will:

• Prepare items for checkout, including adding barcodes, wrapping plastic dust covers on books, and typing up call-number labels
• Data entry into specialized software (Polaris) - on-the-job training provided
• Assist in library inventory projects
• Check-in book and other materials shipments against order records to determine if all items were received
• Attend meetings and other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required. An LTA or other associate's degree preferred
• Familiarity with computers required
• Accurate keyboarding required
• The ability to sort items alphabetically and by the Dewey-Decimal System
• Work independently, once trained
• The ability to push or pull carts weighing 50+ pounds
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
• Effective oral communication

Access to reliable transportation

• 50 hours of vacation time annually
• 45 hours of sick time annually
• 2 personal days (after one year of employment)
