GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Manager of Public Relations/Development is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all of MRI's fundraising activities, including major gifts, annual fund, planned giving, special events, and capital campaigns. The Manager works closely with the President/CEO and the Board of Directors on development and fundraising initiatives. Additionally, the role involves coordinating, implementing, and evaluating public information, education, marketing, resource development, website maintenance, customer service, and internal communication.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and maintain a system for fundraising and planned giving activities to support agency expansion through private funding, including maintaining a donor database.
- Coordinate all fundraising and development activities and maintain personal contact with major benefactors and potential donors to enhance resources and services.
- Create fundraising goals and plan strategies to achieve them based on experience and judgment.
- Identify new donors and organize initiatives to solicit funding.
- Develop major gift opportunities and write grant proposals.
- Inspire new supporters to raise funds while maintaining relationships with existing supporters.
- Manage and update donor databases to record contact and preference information.
- Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate public relations, marketing, website maintenance, customer service, and development activities for the agency, utilizing computer software, phones, and vehicles as needed.
Qualifications
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- A bachelor's degree in communication, public relations, or a related field, with at least two years of experience in public relations, development, or marketing.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with at least two years of experience in public speaking, writing/editing, and media relations.
- One or more years of experience in non-profit fundraising and resource development preferred.
- Knowledge of programs for individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
