GRAPHIC COMMUNICATION DEPARTMENT, PART-TIME LECTURER POOL. The Graphic Communication Department at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo is seeking applications for a pool of part-time lecturers. Positions are available as determined by need and funding during the Fall, Winter, and/or Spring quarter of the 2025-2026 academic year, which begins September 11, 2025.
Responsibilities and duties may include:
- Teaching one or more subjects in both lecture and lab settings or collaborating with tenure-track faculty to co-teach assigned subjects.
- Adobe Creative Suite applications, digital workflow, file preparation for various output processes.
- Color management, including calibration, profiling, and process control across different media and printing technologies.
- Offset, flexo, digital, and specialty printing, from prepress, materials considerations, to print production.
- Packaging design and prototyping.
- Digital photography, image processing, light techniques, and motion graphics for printing and digital applications.
- Cross-media marketing, brand communication strategies, omni-channel campaign development, audience engagement across print, digital, and emerging media.
- Front-end development for web-based interfaces.
- Business and management in graphic communication, including production management, project management, quality management, estimation, workflow optimization, sustainability, strategic decision-making in print and digital media industries.
Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2024, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:
Due to CSU policies, the person hired must reside in the state of California at the time of hire and for the entirety of the appointment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in a related technical field required. Bachelor's degree in a related technical field with substantial and appropriate industry experience may be considered.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. or Master's Degree preferred. Prior teaching experience desired.
