06/24/2025 Job Description Position Summary:
Performs paraprofessional services in the Support Services area of Library operations. Assists Support Services Manager with overseeing volunteer services. Duties include but are not limited to recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, training, providing support and recognition, and expanding volunteer services.
Work Schedule:
19 hour per week position.
Essential Duties:
Recruits, onboards, schedules, and trains volunteers.
Provides ongoing support for current volunteers.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with co-workers, volunteers, and customers.
Creates and distributes quarterly volunteer newsletter.
Assists with volunteer records management.
Assists with planning and organizing Library volunteer events and special volunteer recognition functions.
Assists with volunteer service expansion initiatives.
Performs general clerical duties for supervisor; serves as receptionist; greets/directs volunteers; copies and collates materials for distribution.
Compiles volunteer statistics; generates reports.
Maintains various digital and paper files; performs data entry.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; one (1) year of full-time clerical level library or customer service/public relations/volunteer work; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.

Ability to analyze and facilitate resolution of problems.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a library environment and in community settings.
Safely perform physically demanding duties involving repetitive standing, walking, reaching, bending, and stretching for long periods of time.
Safely lifts, carries, and/or pushes materials including full book carts, book bins, and lifting tubs weighing up to 50 pounds.
Clearly, concisely and effectively communicate in person and over the telephone.
Safely operates a variety of standard office equipment including a computer, laptop and/or tablet PC, telephone, calculator, copier, and fax machine requiring continuous and repetitive arm, hand, and eye movement.
Work is performed in a dynamic environment that requires sensitivity to change and responsiveness to changing goals, priorities, and needs.
