BE PART OF THE CONNECTION
In this role, you’ll be responsible for planning daily news, special events, and story development. You will manage schedules, adjusting for daily and long-term coverage. You must stay up to date on government and community agendas to follow ongoing stories and plan accordingly. You may be asked to write and edit stories as well. You’ll be part of a collaborative team that creates compelling, timely, and accurate content to connect with viewers across traditional and digital platforms.

- Work closely with the newsroom managers and executive producers on covering big stories and planned events.
- Work with reporters, create stories, and plan future stories.

Required Qualifications
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM NEWS
- Experience: 4+ years in a television newsroom; 3+ years as an Assignment Editor.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Communication or comparable television work experience preferred.
- Skills: Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to clearly communicate solutions; ability to relate well with diverse populations.
- Abilities: Ability to develop sources; organize and manage multiple priorities; work under time pressure; may be required to lift up to 5 pounds.
- Travel Ability: Willing to travel to discover important stories and interact with the community.
- Schedule: Flexibility to work different shifts, adapt to schedule changes, and cover standby responsibilities when assigned.
- Working Conditions: Inside a climate-controlled environment; in an open newsroom setting with a semi-noisy environment; communication in person, by phone, and email.
