Overview
The Associate Creative Director (ACD) is responsible for leading the creative work produced on two or three accounts, depending on the account size. This leadership role includes assigning teams, inspiring those teams to produce exceptional concepts and final work, and working closely with account management to ensure client satisfaction with the quality of creative work, value of services, and responsiveness to needs.
Responsibilities
Creative/Hands-on Work (40%)
- Help develop and review creative briefs that provide strategic insight and creative inspiration.
- Work with ACD, Art to produce standout and strategically focused concepts and campaigns.
- Take on appropriate projects and own them, start to finish.
- Manage and work independently under tight deadlines, juggling multiple projects.
- Estimate copy hours.
- Participate in client meetings.
- Lead concept presentations.
- Attend market research as appropriate.
- Share responsibility with planning to shape strategic branding.
Management (30%)
- Assign creative teams best suited for each project based on ability and workload.
- Manage workloads to maximize productivity of the copy team, ensuring that everyone is busy and billable.
- Work closely with art, editorial, and traffic departments to ensure deadlines and budgets are met.
- Provide written and face-to-face feedback for performance reviews and ongoing feedback.
- Identify and interview prospective creative candidates.
Leadership (30%)
- Become the creative voice for your accounts.
- Develop good relationships with clients.
- Work with account management to grow business at existing clients.
- Address performance, workflow, and quality issues with creative management and develop long-range plans.
- Lead creative teams in development of concepts and project execution.
- Ensure copywriters are trained and mentored to meet agency and client standards and career goals.
- Demonstrate understanding of clients’ products and marketing challenges, responding to their strategic and creative needs.
- Represent the agency at client meetings and social events.
Qualifications
- 10+ years’ agency experience.
- BA degree (Advertising, Communications, Fine Arts or related field preferred).
- Proven track record of creative ability, client contact experience, collaboration skills, presentation skills, team management, and commitment to producing high-quality work.
