Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.
- 15 years of senior leadership experience in technical writing, content strategy, or web development.
- 15 years of experience working with and influencing senior-level executives.
Preferred qualifications:
- Track record of driving transformational initiatives based on business and user needs.
- Ability to grasp and apply general concepts of a technical domain to analyze problems, provide insights, communicate technical information, and acquire knowledge across technical domains.
- Ability to influence the direction or strategy of related content in adjacent domains and across the organization using knowledge and expertise.
- Ability to evaluate new opportunities and assess impacts to cross-functional teams by digesting business and technical requirements.
- Excellent thinking and problem-solving skills, especially in addressing ambiguous or new problems spanning multiple systems/organizations.
Technical writers at Google communicate complex information clearly, concisely, and accurately, without jargon. Their tasks include writing conceptual overviews, procedures, reading and writing example code, and updating help center queries and FAQs. They serve as a crucial link between engineers, marketing, developer advocates, and external users and developers, connecting vital parts of the Google ecosystem.
Using extensive technical and leadership experience, you will manage a team of writers, setting strategic direction, providing feedback, collaborating internally, and contributing content expertise.
The Core team develops the technical foundation for Google’s flagship products, owning and advocating for design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure. They build central solutions, remove technical barriers, and strengthen systems, impacting technical decisions across Google.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $195,000-$275,000, plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Salary is determined by role, level, location, skills, experience, and education. Recruiters will share specific salary details during hiring.

Responsibilities include:
- Setting strategy and direction for critical content based on domain expertise and aligning initiatives with business and user needs.
- Serving as a trusted peer to leaders, framing problems and solutions for executives, and aligning stakeholders to meet content and product goals.
- Developing strategies for educational content that simplifies concepts for Google developers.
- Addressing ambiguous or new problems across systems using technical skills and business judgment to guide strategy.
- Leveraging AI to enhance content development and quality assurance through experimentation and iteration.
