We are looking for a talented and curious technical writer who is passionate about creating compelling content that makes our users successful.

As a programmer writer at Guidewire, you will use your ability to grasp technical concepts and convert developer-speak into content that speaks to the user. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create clear, accurate, and engaging content primarily for a developer audience.

To succeed in this role, you must have excellent communication skills, strong technical skills, a hands-on approach, and a self-motivated attitude. Expect to work in a fast-changing and flexible environment where collaboration is key.

Job Description

Key responsibilities

1. Work closely with developers, product managers, and UX designers to understand our products and target audiences.
2. Collaborate with other team members to plan and design content for our cloud and AI platforms and services.
3. Create developer documentation, including API reference topics, developer guides, cross-product solutions, tutorials, and more.
4. Participate in initiatives to make our content more impactful and relevant to our different audiences.

Required Skills And Experience

1. 5+ years of experience creating content for enterprise software or developer tools
2. Excellent writing and communication skills
3. Experience documenting APIs (preferably REST APIs) and writing code samples and tutorials
4. Familiarity with web applications, cloud platforms, and AI concepts
5. A solid understanding of technical communication best practices, topic-based authoring, and structured content
6. Ability to learn independently—by talking to engineers, digging into the code, and trying things out yourself
7. Strong collaboration skills and experience working with cross-functional teams
8. Preferably, you also have some of the following:
9. Knowledge of Swagger/OpenAPI, Git Markdown, DITA, or XML
10. A background in creating developer-first content such as quickstarts, walkthroughs, and use-case-driven tutorials
11. Experience working across teams to create end-to-end solutions that span multiple areas
12. Familiarity with Agile development practices
13. Ability to create or contribute to videos, demos, and interactive tutorials

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $85,000 - $172,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
