Role Overview
The Senior Technology Systems Designer provides creative and proactive solutions for our clients and their projects. This role involves leading the technology systems design team to exceed client expectations, working closely with project managers, senior designers, and other team members. The person will ensure the full scope of technology services is delivered on each project, collaborating throughout the process and mentoring junior designers to maintain high standards of design excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and oversee complex technology projects, including Audio Video systems, telecommunications, and security systems.
- Develop, coach, and mentor Technology Systems Designers.
- Ensure quality control and adherence to design objectives.
- Collaborate with clients, consultants, and internal teams from programming to detailed design.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource utilization to ensure timely delivery.
- Lead meetings to resolve design issues and build consensus.
- Review construction documents and shop drawings for consistency with design intent.
- Provide oversight and direction to technology design staff, including senior and junior team members.
- Coordinate with A/V Systems Designers, project managers, and the Technology Studio Lead.
- Stay current with industry trends and educate staff accordingly.
Business Development & Client Relations
- Utilize CRM software for client engagement and relationship management.
- Participate in market share and client share initiatives to grow business.
- Contribute to proposals and RFP responses.
- Engage with prospective and existing clients to foster relationships and identify new opportunities.
Risk Management
- Assist project teams in managing design risks and resolving issues proactively.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technology, media arts, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in designing and installing audio, video, and technology systems.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, REVIT, and Bluebeam.
- Knowledge of CSI specification writing.
- Strong time management and communication skills.
- Innovative mindset with a passion for cutting-edge technology.
- Ability to work well with diverse teams and build client relationships.
