Base pay range
$100,000.00/yr - $120,000.00/yr
Position Description and Requirements
As an integral part of our team, the Voice Systems Trainer will provide classroom training to Information Management Specialists (IMS), Information Management Technical Specialists (IMTS), locally engaged staff (LES), Diplomatic Security (DS), and employees from other U.S. Government agencies on various telephone/voice and data networking systems and related equipment.
Location of Position: Arlington, VA. The candidate must be able to travel overseas for up to 2 weeks, approximately 1-2 times per year.
Required Certifications & Experience:
- Minimum of five years of experience with voice systems engineering, installation, operations, and maintenance. Experience delivering adult classroom instruction is essential. Candidates must be dynamic presenters.
- Background in infrastructure, voice, and data systems.
- Knowledge of telephony and networking terminology, industry standards, and the ability to explain these to novices.
- Experience in teaching voice and data networking.
- Programming and maintenance experience with Avaya switches, Call Pilot, Cisco Unity Connection; vendor certification preferred.
- Experience creating and delivering online digital content.
- Ability to identify and resolve QOS, routing, and real-time communication issues.
- Must obtain Cisco CCNA certification within 180 days of start date.
- Certified Technical Trainer (CTT+) certification required; if not held at start, must obtain within 180 days or complete the Department of State Training Tradecraft course (PD505).
Desired Knowledge and Experience:
- Experience with Call Accounting Systems and telecommunication security standards.
- Curriculum design and digital content creation skills.
- Security clearance at the Secret level; interim clearance required to start.
General Duties:
- Teach assigned courses, manage classroom setup, prepare evaluations, and conduct student counseling.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills are required.
- Participate in special projects, seminars, and curriculum development.
- Adapt instruction materials to meet departmental needs and standards.
- Design workshops and provide one-on-one tutoring as needed.
- Travel domestically and internationally for training purposes.
- Assist with equipment installation and configuration in training environments.
- Adhere to all policies, processes, and procedures.
