Job Description
Due to growth, my client is adding on a complete 2nd shift in the visual quality department! This will NOT be using mics/calipers like most other quality inspection positions. This is truly just VISUAL inspection.
The leader must be willing to train on 1st shift or semi-form of 1st/2nd shift for a month or so in order to learn the position. Once on 2nd, the start time could be flexible if 2pm or 3pm roughly worked better.
Job Summary:
The Visual Quality Inspection Leader is responsible for overseeing the visual inspection team on 2nd shift to ensure that all plastic products meet established quality standards before packaging and shipment. This role ensures adherence to quality procedures, provides training and support to inspection personnel, and works closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to identify and address defects or process issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, train, and supervise visual quality inspectors during 2nd shift operations.
Conduct visual inspections on molded plastic parts for defects such as color variation, flash, warping, contamination, and other cosmetic or dimensional issues.
Ensure inspectors follow proper inspection procedures, documentation, and reporting protocols.
Maintain and enforce quality standards based on customer specifications, inspection criteria, and company policies.
Collaborate with production team leads to address quality issues in real time.
Perform root cause analysis of recurring defects and escalate major quality concerns to Quality or Production Managers.
Assist in the implementation of corrective actions and process improvements.
Monitor and document inspection results using check sheets, quality reports, and digital systems.
Provide shift-to-shift communication to ensure continuity and information flow.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; technical training or associate degree preferred.
2+ years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
1+ year of leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to interpret work instructions, quality standards, and inspection criteria.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Flexibility to work overtime and adjust to production needs.
