The MathWorks is hiring: UX Designer - Engineering Development Group in Natick
The MathWorks, Natick, MA, United States, 01760 The Engineering Development Group (EDG) is a key leadership development program at MathWorks, designed to help candidates from diverse technical backgrounds develop and showcase their skills for a successful career.
As a member of the EDG for User Experience Designers, you will enhance your leadership and technical skills by working on projects with the MathWorks UX Design team. You will gain hands-on experience with MathWorks products and user workflows through direct customer interactions. Mentoring and coaching will prepare you for a UX Designer role within the MathWorks UX organization. UX Designers at MathWorks lead projects through the entire design process, from initial ideas and sketches to wireframes, prototypes, and active development, ensuring pixel-perfect designs "go live" to delight users worldwide.
Responsibilities
As a UX Design EDG team member, you will be part of a diverse and inclusive team, contribute to impactful UX projects, and provide technical support to customers. This role offers continuous learning and technical growth opportunities to prepare you for future success. Specifically, you will:
Contribute to high-impact UX Design projects with cross-organizational teams to strengthen your technical and professional skills and advance your career.
Collaborate with project partners to understand detailed requirements and design comprehensive user experiences that meet user needs and align with project vision.
Promote standard methodologies in design, usability, and accessibility within the design and engineering teams and across the company.
Provide technical support to MathWorks customers for complex issues in MATLAB, Simulink, and other products.
Develop technical skills within your domain and the MathWorks product suite.
Demonstrate leadership by coaching, mentoring others, and contributing to or leading process improvement initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree with 3 years of professional experience, or a master's degree, or equivalent experience.
Additional Qualifications Master's or Ph.D. in a STEM field with HCI, Design, or related specialization.
Experience with design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe, Axure).
Portfolio showcasing multiple projects and your contributions, linked in your resume.
Experience designing user experiences in technical or engineering domains.
Programming experience in any language (MATLAB, R, Python, C++, Java, JS, etc.).
