This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Technical Director for our District of Columbia Bridge Inspection Group. This is a hybrid position, based out of Washington D.C. and/or adjacent MD/VA offices. You will assist the Mid-Atlantic District's bridge inspection TEC Lead with business development and securing bridge inspection and repair projects for WMATA, DDOT, and other transportation agencies.
Your Responsibilities
- Perform independent evaluations of the condition, function, and load capacity of structures and components, forming the basis for repair, rehabilitation, or replacement recommendations.
- Plan, schedule, and conduct bridge inspections in accordance with NBIS and AASHTO standards for clients like WMATA and DDOT.
- Communicate critical findings to client staff and lead/assist field teams.
- Ensure all inspection reports and documentation meet technical standards and standards compliance.
- Support proposal and report preparations, and contribute to business development efforts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- 10+ years of bridge inspection experience with NBIS standards, particularly with WMATA, DDOT, and similar clients.
- Experience managing bridge inspection projects and leading teams in the District of Columbia, MD, VA, or other states.
- Relevant training such as NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges and other specialized courses.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, leadership, and safety record skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional NHI training in fracture-critical inspections, ancillary structures, or NDT techniques.
- Experience with railroad and complex bridge inspections, tunnels, ancillary structures, and UAS or rope access certifications.
Benefits and Compensation
WSP offers comprehensive health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, retirement, paid leave, and other benefits. Salary range: $149,200 - $300,410, commensurate with experience and location.
