About you

You're an experienced writer and editor with a background in health communication or public health. You excel at developing materials that are conversational, understandable, accessible, and actionable. You distill complex information into approachable content that requires little or no substantive editing, and you're adept at providing guidance to newer-in-career writers. You have experience writing proposals for new business, including working under tight timelines and meeting specific requirements laid out in an RFP. You enjoy working both independently and collaboratively, have experience giving and receiving feedback on content, and display outstanding critical thinking skills and attention to detail.

What you'll do

The core functions of this role include:Write and edit plain language print and web content on a variety of health topicsWork with clients to shape content and message strategy for communication campaignsWrite proposals, including large proposals for federal government agenciesReconcile feedback from clients and subject matter experts while maintaining plain language standards and editorial consistency across communication productsCopyedit and proofread content deliverables before they go out the door to ensure accuracy and alignment with style guides and other requirementsDevelop information architectures and labeling for websites or appsMentor health writers and provide editorial feedback on their workRequirements

At least 5 years of relevant experience or an advanced degreeBachelor's or master's degree in public health, health science, English, communication, or a related fieldStrong writing and editing skills with a knack for clear communicationDemonstrated experience developing health education materials that incorporate best practices from human-centered design, health education, and health literacyExperience writing proposalsBenefits
