Job Description

The UCM (University Communications & Marketing) Web Team seeks a motivated undergraduate student to support the Web Team staff in the creation and support of ohio.edu and related university websites. The Web Student Assistant may work between 10 and 28 hours per week through the summer. Position may be remote with reliable internet connection.

This job is more focused on web content and not web development. Duties include editing pages and creating new content using the Drupal content management system and basic, minor design-related tasks such as image resizing, and other content-specific tasks, such as updating text and links.

Additional responsibilities may include conducting website audits, performing and evaluating user tests, and developing website analytic reports.

Minimum Qualifications• Attention to detail• Solid writing, editing, and technical skills• Proficiency using web-based applications• Strong communication skills• Ability to collaborate with a team• Ability to work at least 10 hours per week during standard business hours (M-F 8 a.m.-5 p.m.) - remote work is an option with reliable internet connection.

Preferred Qualifications• Experience with content management, Google Analytics, Photoshop, Microsoft Office, and working in a content management system such as Drupal is desired.• Experience working in a dynamic team environment• A basic understanding of information architecture, SEO, and website accessibility principles• Basic understanding of HTML and CSS• Basic web design and/or coding skills are a plus, but not required• Ability to continue working through the 2024-25 academic year for at least 10 hours per week during standard business hours

Note: While undergraduate degree work need not be in a technology-related field, this position would provide practical experience for majors in Interactive Information Design, Media Arts & Studies, Strategic Communication, Information and Telecommunications, and other technology-related fields.
