Our client is looking for Assistant Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist to join their team. The GIS Specialist will contribute to the development, update, analysis, and management of GIS data across a range of professional services. This role entails engaging in various GIS analysis, data development, maintenance, and preparation tasks for integration into GIS systems. Regular communication of project status to customers is vital, emphasizing the customer service aspect of the Assistant GIS Specialist role. Collaboration within functional teams to deliver GIS data and services to clients is essential, with a strong focus on teamwork, customer satisfaction, urgency, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities include:Supporting GIS analysis, data development, collection, and mapping for client projects while assisting internal and external project teams.Participating in GIS metadata creation, digital feature extraction, land survey records search, and ownership data research from diverse sources.Aiding in geospatial project deliverables' projections and transformations.Contributing to the creation and updating of GIS maps and map layers.Assisting in GPS data collection, editing, and post-processing for high accuracy data specifications using ArcGIS during field surveys.Supporting georeferencing of raster and vector data.Providing ad hoc analysis and recommendations to meet or exceed business goals, quality standards, billability, and utilization.Ensuring quality assurance and quality control of deliverables in line with client and project requirements.Assisting in identifying and implementing improved GIS work methods and system needs.

Requirements:A Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, or a closely related field. A Geographic Information System professional certificate is preferred but not mandatory.Methodical and analytical work approach in a quantitative problem-solving environment, showcasing critical thinking skills.Utilization of various software packages and information sources to create GIS maps supporting field personnel and deliverables.Strong foundational GIS skills and terminology knowledge, with an intermediate skill level.Experience with various GIS tools (ArcGIS, Esri Products, etc.)- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Esri Products.- Basic understanding of Arcpy and Python.- Technical writing skills.- Ability in team leadership and project coordination.- Experience in quality control and public speaking/communication.

Key skills and concepts associated with intermediate GIS proficiency include:1. Data Manipulation:- Importing, exporting, and manipulating spatial data in various formats.- Utilizing tools for data conversion, projection, and transformation.2. Spatial Analysis:- Proficiency in performing tasks like overlay analysis, buffer creation, spatial statistics, and proximity analysis.3. Geodatabase Management:- Managing geodatabases, including establishing relationships and ensuring data integrity.4. Problem Solving:- Troubleshooting common GIS issues and addressing spatial data quality and integrity challenges independently.

The position also requires US citizenship status.
