Summary

The Director of Marketing Pursuits will be responsible for overseeing HMC's proposals and pursuits activity across the firm. This position is responsible for managing the overall workload and resources within the marketing proposals/pursuits team. The role will work alongside key business leaders and the vice president of market strategy to lead the firm's marketing/proposal pursuits group and is responsible for ensuring marketing deliverables are of high quality, quantity, and timeliness. This role will closely track key performance marketing indicators to ensure the firm is performing at a high level and capture the appropriate amount of market activity in our key core practices. This role will partner with the other groups such as communications, graphics, and practice focused teams to ensure effective delivery of the firm's overall marketing efforts.

This position can be located either in the Los Angeles or Ontario California office locations. The position requires 3 days in the office and the ability to work from home Mondays and Fridays. Writing samples and portfolio will be required when applying for this position.

ResponsibilitiesManage marketing staff in the development of winning proposals, interviews and other marketing materialsDevelop/edit proposal and marketing materials to drive quality and excellenceEmbrace and implement brand standards, develop templated materials with the Senior Art Director to improve marketing deliverables and increase productivityDevelop and improve processes with the marketing leadership group to ensure efficiency and differentiation in the marketDemonstrated written and oral communication skills, detail oriented with excellent writing, grammar and proofreading skills. Co-lead and participate in capture planning, interview strategy, and interview preparation/rehearsalsTrack metrics for marketing success such as wins, shortlist rates, capture ratios, leads tracking, and make recommendations to leadership regarding strategies for improving marketing effortsMonitor the quality and results of proposals related to production, resources, win/loss rates, and other marketing targetsOversee the development of all proposals, collateral material, presentation material, and other sales-related deliverablesIn coordination with Practice Leaders and the Vice President of Market Strategy develop and manage firmwide marketing budgetAssist with defining communication and promotion activities and budgets that support each market segment including brochures, external communications, conferences, design and trade publications, awards, and media and press relationsAssist the business services department in monitoring/updating the opportunity tracking database. Provide consistent review and data entry with marketing resources and contact lead champions to obtain the latest updatesCollaborate with all internal stakeholders to meet goals and objectives of marketing activitiesCoach, train, mentor, evaluate and provide performance feedback to marketing team members.Delegate assignments to marketing team and drive accountability for marketing results firmwideCoordinate competitive pursuits activities and needs with other marketing and firm leadersProactively seek feedback from internal principals/champions to inform development of marketing tools and support systemsParticipate in training and mentoring of pursuit proponents in marketing and business development skillsOther duties as assignedQualifications and Requirements

Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business or other related degree from an accredited university or equivalent demonstrated proficiencyMinimum of 10 years of experience in marketingMinimum of 7 years of progressive experience in marketing in architecture or related design industryExperience in K-12, higher education, healthcare and community building types is highly desirableAbility to manage 9-15 peopleHave a strong understanding of the architecture industry, terminology, and professionProven experience managing teams and driving results through othersProven project management skillsExcellent writing and verbal communications skillsSuccessful presentation and interview coaching skillsSelf-starter with a high degree of self-accountability for achieving deadlines and other marketing targetsAbility to establish productive working relationships, and work effectively and cooperatively with internal 'champions,' and marketing staffMust be resilient, positive and have a team-first mentalityStrong graphic design orientation and ability to use photography and visualsProficient with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and InDesign)Adaptable, and possesses the ability to lead change, and results through effective communication, collaboration, and consensus-building

The salary range for this position is $105,682 to $158,086

The actual offered salary for this position will vary depending on multiple factors including the candidate's qualification, education, position knowledge, work experience, skills, ability, work location, and internal incumbent compensation for similar roles. We do not anticipate individuals hired into this position will start at or near the top half of the range listed; the decision will be based on each individual case. The salary range listed above does not include other compensation elements such as discretionary bonus opportunities, employee stock ownership grants, paid time off, medical insurance, and other wage and benefit opportunities.
