General Summary of Purpose of this Position: HRDC is seeking an experienced and motivated Grant Writer to join our team. The Grant Writer will play a crucial role in securing new funding for our programs, projects, facilities, and initiatives by crafting compelling proposals, building relationships with funders, and managing grant-related documentation. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successful grant writing, exceptional communication skills, and a strong understanding of nonprofit funding landscapes.

Job Status: This position is regular, part-time-20 hours/week with potential to grow into full time employment.
Wage: $26.00-$29.00/hour
Job Location: Market Place in Bozeman
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities
Proposal Writing: Draft, and submit grant proposals to government agencies, foundations, and corporations. Ensure proposals are tailored to each funder’s guidelines and requirements. (40%)
Research: Identify potential funding opportunities by researching grant-making organizations, foundations, and government agencies. Stay current with trends and changes in grant funding. (30%)
Organizational Understanding and Collaboration: Study and understand the structure, objectives, programs and financial needs of the organization. Work closely with appropriate staff, fiscal team, and other stakeholders to research, develop, write and submit letters of inquiry, grant proposals and reports. (10%)
Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain relationships with current and prospective funders. Participate in meetings, networking events, and other activities to enhance funding opportunities. (10%)
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of grant applications, correspondence, and reports. Ensure all documentation is complete and organized. (5%)
Track: Maintain primary responsibility for grant schedules and tracking active and pending grants. (5%)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in grant writing or a related field, with a demonstrated track record of securing funding from various sources.
Skills: Exceptional writing, editing, and research skills. Ability to craft compelling narratives and tailor content to diverse audiences.
Knowledge: Familiarity with grant management software and tools. Understanding of nonprofit funding landscapes and grant requirements.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or experience in grant writing or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications are a plus.
Personal Traits: Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Passion for HRDC’s mission and values.

Essential Physical, Mental and Emotional Requirements of this position. The following physical, mental and emotional abilities are considered essential to perform the duties listed above:
The incumbent must be able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, must be able to work under time and/or deadline pressures.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or experience in grant writing or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications are a plus.
Supervision Received:
This position operates under general supervision.
The incumbent’s work is primarily assigned by daily workflow and operations.
The incumbent is authorized to make decisions as to the timing and sequence of work and the work is performed according to established policies and procedures and/or within applicable laws, rules and regulations governing the tasks being performed.
Financial Responsibility.
Responsible for data entry for payable claims with proper coding according eligibility requirements
Has responsibility for generating revenue for multiple unrelated programs.
Personal Contacts: The incumbent is responsible for the following personal contacts (either in oral or written form) when performing the Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:
Interacts with staff, managers, directors, officers, funding representatives on a regular basis
Interacts with fiscal staff, funding representatives, auditors and compliance to provide reports monthly as needed
Interacts with funding agencies to provide information or exchange facts weekly or more frequent basis
Working Conditions:
Works in a temperature-controlled office environment.
Weekly or more frequent operation of a motor vehicle under all weather conditions.
May be exposed to customers in crisis which can manifest in loud outbursts, anger, and threats of harm to self or others.
