Job Description:Mechanical concept and design of automation equipment and tooling, utilizing standards, as well as general engineering practices and creativity. Specifications and line-up information presented by the Engineering Manager and Program Manager.

Job Responsibilities:• Design and Development: Design and development of mechanical systems and components for automation manufacturing equipment.• Conceptualization: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, technicians, and project managers, to conceptualize and define design requirements based on project specifications and manufacturing goals.• Prototype and Testing: Create detailed 3D models and technical drawings using CAD software develop and validate design concepts and perform functional testing.• Design Optimization: Continuously evaluate and optimize mechanical designs to enhance performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness, while adhering to industry standards and regulations• Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including drawings, specifications, bills of materials (BOM), and design change records.• Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective integration of mechanical designs with electrical, controls, and software components.• Vendor Management: Liaise with external vendors and suppliers to source components, review quotations, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality parts for prototype construction and manufacturing• Continuous improvement: Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in automation manufacturing and mechanical design. Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and innovation in mechanical design methodologiesQualifications:• Proven experience (minimum of 5 years) in mechanical design• Strong proficiency in CAD software, SolidWorks preferred• Thorough knowledge of manufacturing principles and commercial technology used as a tool for the creation of designs• Familiarity with manufacturing processes, such as assembly, machining, welding• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a deadline-driven environment• Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
