Job Description:

UF Information Technology (UFIT) is seeking an experienced Web Designer II to join Academic Technology, Center for Instructional Technology and Training, a unit within UFIT.

The successful candidate will design and deliver accessible and engaging web interface. Strong UI/UX design experience and demonstrated proficiencies with design tools such as Figma or Adobe Illustrator are desired. Experience in using HTML, CSS is required. Knowledge of web content management systems is preferred. The candidate must be a quick learner and be able to provide excellent customer relations to end-users that include non-IT staff in core university offices, UF Information Technology staff, and support units’ campus wide.

The Intermediate Web Designer works to build engaging websites based upon industry standards using a variety of tools, software applications, techniques, utilizes user interface with detailed design, performs usability tests, and conducts research on new web protocols. This position also designs the website to support the organization’s strategies and goals relative to external communications, creates websites that are WCAG 2.0 compliant, and implements appealing and engaging websites for staff and the diverse community UF serves using HTML and CSS.

Key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:

Ability to implement appealing and engaging websites for staff and the community UF serves using HTML and CSS

Ability to work with clients to mockup websites inside of Figma or adobe design tools and work with developers on the implementation of those mockups

Knowledge of web content management systems such as WordPress Multisite.

Communicate, coordinate and demonstrate information architect to customers to ensure that the website communicates the desired message to its audience

Ability to design concepts of website structure, articulate stakeholders needs, and prioritize tasks

Solid understanding the web industry standards and ability to apply best practices to web design and implement web accessibility

Strong customer service experience

Full-time TEAMS employees will accrue vacation leave at a rate of 6.769 hours biweekly/22 days annually and sick leave at 4 hours biweekly/13 days annually. In addition, employees are eligible for ten paid holidays each year.

Vacation-accruing TEAMS employees are eligible for four personal leave days/32 hours per year, assuming full-time status, and are intended to give the flexibility to enable units to close from December 26 to 31, when possible, determined on a unit-by-unit basis.

Expected Salary:

$53,000 annually

Minimum Requirements:

A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience; or an associate’s degree and four years of appropriate experience.

This role will be based in one of our Gainesville offices and may include a hybrid schedule of 3 days in the office (Wednesday required), and 2 days remote.
