Domino’s Ruins Tourist Experience with “Extreme” Delivery

joevolcano1.jpg

There’s nothing like warm chocolate cake to sooth one’s palate when they’re near a blazing, active volcano. At least that’s what Domino’s thought when they surprised tourists visiting Mount St. Helens with 1,000 of their new Chocolate Lava Crunch Cakes. But since the nearest Domino’s location was two hours away and a delivery guy’s Gremlin might not make it that far, the company decided to send the oven-baked goods via helicopter.

As Domino’s spokeswoman Jenny Fouracre puts it, “…We decided to make this extreme by flying in a helicopter to let the volcano explode…with flavors of rich chocolate fudge!” Lovely, but the words “volcano” and “explode” used in whatever context would make me nervous if I was visiting ol’ St. Helens.

The press release doesn’t hesitate from using the word “extreme” to describe the stunt, which was leaked beforehand to the pizza chain’s followers via Facebook and Twitter. Now, it’s just a matter of time before ICEEs are delivered via bobsled to the Arctic Circle.
