Jim Nelson Out at Carmichael Lynch
Don’t worry, Carmichael Lynch tipster, we didn’t forget ya. A phone call to the Minneapolis agency confirms that chief creative officer Jim Nelson is no longer working at the agency (reason why will hopefully follow shortly). We’ve been hearing that Nelson was one of three senior managers who “parted ways” with CL as of last week, though we’re still waiting for info/confirmation on the other parties.
Nelson put in nearly two decades at Carmichael Lynch, and during his time at the agency, he’s worked across a range of clients from Harley-Davidson and Porsche to Gibson and Northwest Airlines. He was promoted to GCD in 1998, then ECD/senior partner in 2003. Most recently, the creative and his crew at CL picked up a Webby in the automotive category for their Subaru “Mediocrity” campaign (acceptance speech above). We’ve been told a new CCO hasn’t been appointed as of yet.
