Maroon 5 Streams 24-Hour Recording Session for Coke

In the biggest music news since Coke hired Train and threatened to “Shake Up Christmas” last holiday season, the soft drink label is partnering with similarly croon-y adult contemporary act Maroon 5 for a live-streaming, 24-hour recording session. Coke sure knows how to pick its musical brand ambassadors, huh?

Interested parties can visit Coke’s special music website to see a live broadcast of what now is a pretty empty looking recording studio save some guys hanging out on a couch and some dudes looking at a computer screen. The 24-hour session’s premise goes like this: “Maroon 5 and ten aspiring musicians (will inhabit) a studio for the next 24 hours with the hopes of composing an original track. Viewers can impact the final track by weighing in on questions posed by the band via the Twitter hashtag, #WithMaroon5.” That’s right, “aspiring musicians.” They apparently have to earn the musician title after recording a song with Maroon 5, as must all true musicians.

The session started at 1 p.m. EDT yesterday and will come to its thrilling conclusion today at the same time. Check out the message from singer Adam Levine below. Concept and video production comes to us courtesy of W+K while the online design aspect was handled by SapientNitro.
