Now that we’ve got the LeBron news out of the way, let’s focus on his rival who actually made it to the NBA Finals. With Game 1 kicking off tonight, it seems rather appropriate to highlight this new ad from Nike, which is essentially a Kobe Bryant highlight reel complemented by nods to past Nike campaigns (hey, it’s Spike Lee and Lil Penny!) as well as old footage of NBA luminaries like Magic Johnson, Scottie Pippen and Patrick Ewing.

Despite my hatred of the Lakers, it’s a good advert that’s nicely aided by Andre 3000 voicing The Beatles’ “All Together Now.” My only beef is that the spot had to start with Kobe’s ridiculously lucky three-point shot over my man Dwyane Wade. We’re still waiting for W+K to send us the credits on this one.
