Shocking Update: Creative/Rapper Behind Ode to Mistress Actually Lands Job at Mistress

Surprise, surprise. Just before the holidays, we told you about a dis rap of sorts from one Gregg Kaysen, a New York-based copywriter who set his sights on L.A. based agency Mistress in his opus, even slighting one of its own copywriters, Guy Helm, in the process.

While the promise of possible retaliation from Helm–who we were told was even reaching out to noted West Coast rapper Too Short for assistance–apparently never came to fruition, Kaysen’s attention-seeking effort initially landed him an interview with Mistress back in December. Well, fast-forward to present day and said agency, which works with clients like Jagermeister, has reported to us that it’s finally hired the lad–well, sort of. We’ve been told that Kaysen has been brought on for a six-month gig at Mistress, though we’re checking to see what his start date/role actually will be. While we await his follow-up track, you can check out the original from the former BBDO “content creator” below:

Job-Seeking Creative Perhaps Rekindles East Coast/West Coast Rivalry with Ode to Mistress

Ladies and gentlemen, meet Gregg Kaysen, a New York-based creative type who’s currently listed as a “content creator” at BBDO but has his eyes set on the West Coast, specifically L.A.-based shop Mistress. The folks at the agency, which works with clients like Jagermeister, has received this bumping opus that not only disses one of its own copywriters, but has sparked a mini-feud in the process. According to the Mistress camp, copywriter Guy Helm, who was apparently slighted in this rap, has begun reaching out to multiple west coast talent such as Too Short to formulate a potential response. We only hope this hasn’t reopened the old East Coast/West Coast rapper wound.

Oh, it’s on and with it, he’s actually landed himself a job interview with the Mistress CDs. If you’re interested in full lyric sheet and want to know more about Kaysen, click here.
