Nearly seven months after joining forces with fellow senior creative, Joe Volpicelli, Rick Doerr has been bumped up to the big chair, taking on the role of president/chief client officer. Doerr has spent nearly a year as SVP/managing director of T3′s New York office. The new appointee is no stranger to the Big Apple, though, having served as an SVP/managing director at the aforementioned, Omnicom-owned agency’s local office. Doerr replaces Gay Gaddis at T3. The latter exec, who founded the agency back in 1989, will drop the president title, but retain her role as CEO at the Texas-based agency.

As for Doerr, the exec has worked with a client roster including Allstate, Chase, Sprite and UPS during his time at T3.

Jim Firestone is heading from one Austin-based agency to another as the eight-and-a-half-year GSD&M vet is moving over to T3 to take on the role of SVP/chief strategy officer. T3 has been somewhat busy on the hiring front in recent weeks as Firestone’s arrival follows that of BBDO alum Joe Volpicelli, who signed on as ECD at the former’s New York office last month.

As for Firestone, the exec most recently served as VP, experience & insights at GSD&M, where he led planning efforts for Homeaway, L.L. Bean, Hallmark, Yellowpages.com and AT&T among other accounts. During his career, Firestone’s held senior account planning positions at the likes of Deutsch, EuroRSCG and Ammirati & Puris.

It has been quite a while since we’ve heard from Austin-based T3, but now, the agency’s New York office has a creative lead in Joe Volpicelli, who has spent the last 13 years at BBDO. Most recently, Volpicelli served as VP, creative director at the latter agency, helping lead efforts for Lowe’s (remember this kinda nifty spot, no?) and Arby’s. During his career, the creative exec had stints at Grey, Y&R New York and founded his short-lived shop, Earthquake Advertising.

Now, in his new role at T3′s NY branch, Volpicelli will team with SVP/GM and BBDO/Proximity alum Rick Doerr, managing the office and working with clients including JPMorgan Chase and UPS.
