Connelly Out at LBi

We’re trying not to harp or twist knives, just saying, but we have it on good authority that LBi group creative director Serena Connelly is no longer at LBi. If the name doesn’t ring a bell, let us refresh your collective memories and tell you that she joined LBi from Blast Radius less than six months ago. According to one tipster, Connelly “…sent a rather ominous farewell email that effectively terrified the entire agency, particularly us creatives, into thinking more layoffs could be coming, although the note also included that her leaving would keep the rest of us safe ‘for the time being.’”

Prior to LBi, Connelly, as mentioned, worked at Blast Radius as ECD, East Coast and spent 18 months as a creative director at StrawberryFrog. We’ll let you know if and when we hear more.

Connelly Leaving Blast Radius for LBi

Six months after leaving the Frogpond for a role as ECD, East Coast at digital agency Blast Radius, Serena Connelly is splitting for a new gig. Connelly, who oversaw creative for Blast’s New York and Toronto offices, is taking on a post as group creative director at LBi New York because according to BR, the “position at the smaller, independent agency is a better fit.” Blast Radius adds, “We wish her well.” From what we’ve been told, Connelly’s last day at the agency is this Friday.

Along with spending a year-and-a-half at StrawberryFrog as creative director, Connelly served as an ACD at R/GA and a senior copywriter at Leo Burnett during her career. While we’re on the topic of the Frog, signs point to yes on the Spy line that said agency’s ECD Corinna Falusi, who has spent nine years at StrawberryFrog, is leaving for a gig at Ogilvy and her last day at the Frogpond is also Friday the 13th. We haven’t received any official confirmation on her title/start date, but we’ll let you know.

Blast Radius Welcomes Westside/Eastside ECDs

Former StrawberryFrog creative director Serena Connelly, with Bjork-like outfit and all, has joined the ranks of WPP-owned Blast Radius as executive creative director at its East Coast operation, which translates into its New York office. Connelly spent 18 months at the Frogpond’s NY office, serving as creative director on the Pampers business and creating mobile apps for the P&G brand including “Hello Baby.” The creative has some history with P&G, having spent six years at Leo Burnett as senior copywriter on Tampax and Always. In addition, Connelly had various ACD/CW posts at the likes of Publicis Dialog, Ogilvy, Arc Worldwide and Digitas.

Now that we have the East Coast covered, let’s shift the Blast Radius news to the West as the agency hired Mark Waggoner as ECD in its Portland office. Waggoner’s 25-year ad career is dotted with stints at Razorfish (where he spent the last two years as ECD), W+K and Cole & Weber way back when.
