RPA Turns Nick Thune into ‘Brad, the Lyft Driver’ for Honda Fit

RPA is debuting a new online series promoting the Honda Fit with “Brad, the Lyft Driver,” a hidden-camera style video starring Nick Thune as Brad, an (overly) accommodating Lyft driver.

The series, directed by Fred Savage (Modern Family, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), shows Thune (in character as Brad) “maintaining a good vibe” while yelling obnoxiously out the window, rehearsing soap opera scenes with passengers, and creating creepy personalized mix tapes. While the antics can be amusing in small doses, the video stretches well past the three minute mark, overstaying its welcome a bit in the process.

As part of its “Fit For You” campaign, RPA is also teaming up with Vine stars Jordan Burt, KC James, Cody Johns and David Lopez for a series of Vine videos with each utilizing the Honda Fit in a video showcasing their individual style. Read more

The NY Lottery Grinds with Dead Presidents at a Beach Party

And so, we move from the undead to dead presidents in DDB’s latest bizarre spot for the NY Lottery, one that suggests winning the “Cash Blast” scratch-off game means an instant beach party with your pals Washington, Lincoln, Hamilton, Jackson, Grant and Franklin. In fact, should you win millions playing the odds at your local convenience store, it probably would be a pretty good idea to hire impersonators of these presidents/forefathers to join you in celebration as you flaunt your cash to the legions of friends you just bought. They say “money can’t buy happiness,” but “they” are a bunch of jealous poor people who haven’t had Abraham Lincoln throw up on a techno DJ at one of their soirees.

Any guesses as to what Ulysses S. Grant is smoking when he walks by camera? If you invite an Alexander Hamilton impersonator to your shindig, are you duty-bound to also invite an Aaron Burr impersonator to see if things heat up? More importantly, will giggling at a lottery spot about a pretty generic scratch-off game make you want to play it? Credits after the jump.

Red Stripe Celebrates Small Victories

Your average beer commercial tends to be a bit oversaturated. Whether Budweiser Clydesdales are clomping through the snow or Coors Light mountains are changing colors, big beer brands love their drama and growly-voiced narrators. Red Stripe, however, sets themselves apart by appreciating the little things in life.

In its latest campaign from BBDO NY, the Jamaican beer brand celebrates finding five dollars in your pocket, successfully evading embarrassing office party moments, and using a big word in a business presentation. All the appreciation comes in the form of a reggae band, crooning lyrics like, “Ooh, look at you/using a big word in an office meeting, all correctly and stuff.”

Their end slogan is simply, “Hooray Beer!” Hard to argue with that. Just as much as everyone loves throwing out sweet vocab words and finding money, beer is a simple pleasure worth celebrating. Credits after the jump.
