The results of the 6th annual Social Recruiting Survey from social recruiting platform Jobvite reveal that LinkedIn is unsurprisingly recruiters’ top resource for vetting candidates, with Twitter coming in third to Facebook’s second.

How Are Recruiters Using Social Media (And Who Is Winning The Talent War)? [INFOGRAPHIC]

Did you know that more than half (54 percent) of recruiters use Twitter to discover job talent, and that 15 percent have successful made a hire using everyone’s favourite micro-blogging social network?

Pretty impressive, but Twitter’s numbers lag significantly behind the two big players in social recruitment, placing it a distant third. Facebook ranks number two, and is used by 66 percent of recruiters (26 percent of whom have used Facebook to make a hire), but it’s LinkedIn, which is in use by more than nine in ten recruitment agencies, 89 percent of whom have used the business social platform to make a hire, which is in a league of its own.

98% Of Job Recruiters Used Social Media In 2012 [INFOGRAPHIC]

98 percent of recruiters used social media for sourcing quality hires in 2012, up from 94 percent in 2011, with LinkedIn (97 percent of respondents) far and away the preferred platform of choice, ahead of Facebook (51 percent) and Twitter (49 percent).

Facebook (17 percent) edged Twitter (13 percent) as the social network that produced the highest quality candidate, but more than one-third (38 percent) of recruiters said that they planned on using Twitter more in 2013.

Social media has revolutionized the business world and has quickly established itself as the primary source of recruitment for companies worldwide, and with good reason – it’s cost-effective, fast and scalable, allowing organizations of all shapes and sizes to source potential hires and easily profile their characters.

Indeed, 92 percent of U.S. companies have used social networks to find new talent, and almost three-quarters (73 percent) of those surveyed have made successful hires through these channels.
