It seems like Twitter’s in the lab this week.

In addition to testing a tweet translation tool, Twitter is experimenting with a tweet additive that highlights media articles that have embedded a tweet.

Here’s what we mean.

Notice the “Embedded on these websites” caption.

Here’s another example:

The first account is Mikko Hypponen, a popular TED speaker with nearly 50,000 followers; the second is, well, The White House. So obviously the new feature is only being tested on substantially followed accounts.

Should Twitter roll it out more widely, it could assist users in following the path of news across accounts and websites.
