Angry Birds is the gaming sensation that is on everybody’s lips, iPhone, iPad, Android device, Macbook and PC. In fact, it’s everywhere, with one notable exception – Angry Birds has no presence on any of the major social platforms.
That all changed yesterday with the announcement of the official Angry Birds Twitter game – all of which is played within Twitter itself.
How? Participants simply send messages to the official @angrybirds140 Twitter account, telling it exactly what they want those crazy birds to do, and the clever bots at Angry Birds HQ will crunch some powerful algorithms and let you know how you got on. You don’t even have to be following @angrybirds140 to play!
I’ve tested out the game, and it’s a lot of fun. Actual screenshot below.
OK – so the graphics are fairly limited and this adaptation places a lot less importance on dexterity and angles than perhaps the other titles in the range, but there’s something very retro about this port that is enormously appealing. It’s also a fantastic coup for Twitter, beating both Facebook and FourSquare to the punch and getting Angry Birds to their 200m+ social fanbase first.
