Not all job applicants -- even the ones you invite in for interviews -- are worth your utmost attention, so weeding out the bad ones early can save time, energy and frustration. The problem is that flawed applicants are not always easy to spot quickly. This is partly because they try to hide their weaknesses, but it could also be your approach.
"Hiring managers can get confused by people good at getting a job and can't always tell who'd be good at doing the job," said HR consultant Linda M. Duffy, president of Ethos Human Capital Solutions. "Too many managers look at years of experience, college degrees, or other qualifications as signs that someone can do the job."
